Parental cooperation

For us, strong parental collaboration is crucial. We have a PTA (Parent Teacher Association) where at least one parent from each group participates, focusing together on how we can improve the preschool. We inform new guardians during our initial contact how much we value communication and that their opinions matter greatly to us. We strive to involve parents in everything we do.

Examples of our parental collaboration:

TYRA app - our app through which the preschool publishes blogs, calendars, attendance records, pedagogical documentation, and portfolios. Through TYRA, educators and guardians also communicate about schedules, illnesses, or everyday matters.

Daily communication at drop-off and pick-up. We believe daily communication is vital. It can be small details that can determine a child's day or evening. It is also important for the child to see that parents and educators have a good relationship.

Parent-teacher conferences/developmental discussions in November and April/May. Of course, we have discussions as needed, initiated by both educators and parents. It is important that we respect the children and their guardians and do not discuss sensitive matters in the hallway but invite them to a meeting.

Welcome letter with helpful information for new families.

Follow-up discussions after the settling-in period, where we share how things have been going and receive feedback from parents on their experience.

Parent meeting in September. Parent council in September/October.

Opportunities to create various interest groups and collaborations around larger activities or cultural holidays.

Parental letters from the principal at least once per term.

User surveys. We inform our parents during the parent meeting in September about how important it is for them to help us improve by responding to the user survey. We do this as we review our goals and the results of the year's user survey together.

UN Day celebration with a potluck, where all families are welcomed to a feast with good food/treats where we celebrate and recognize all the different cultures we have at the preschool.

End-of-year celebration with performances, "graduation" (diplomas and hats), and a picnic.
