About us
The English French preschool has been in existence for a long time but has been operated as the Engelska Franska förskolan since the spring of 2019. The preschool's premises are spacious, and each department has access to several group rooms. We believe in the importance of working with small groups of children and maintaining a high staff-to-child ratio, two conditions that make it easier to tailor activities to each child's individual needs. We place great emphasis on using well-known and experienced substitute teachers when needed.
The central neighborhood of Södermalm offers a variety of playgrounds and green areas where the children's groups go on excursions daily. Our youngest children have access to the spacious courtyard, but we also have "children's buses" (strollers for 6 children) to easily transport them to one of the different parks on Södermalm. To choose which park the departments should go to, the children are introduced early to the concept of "voting," and words like democracy, minority, and majority are introduced in an enjoyable way. During the summer months, the departments work on various gardening projects with the children in the yard.
Each department has its clear weekly schedule and goes on a longer excursion every week. Information about the content of the activities is published to the parent group via the Tyra app. Through Tyra, you as parents can follow everything the children learn and work on during the weeks.
With just a few minutes' walk to both the subway and commuter train, it is easy to get here and also possible for the older children to go on excursions outside of Södermalm. Every semester, the older children go on a longer excursion, for example, to museums, theaters, and zoos to deepen their knowledge in one of the areas they have worked on during the year.
The preschool has both Swedish-French and Swedish-English groups, which means we have Swedish, English, and French-speaking educators in each group. Each educator is consistent with their language according to "one educator - one language," a method that research shows supports children's language development well. The preschool works with sustainability and health - not least through various projects within the Green Flag initiative.
We value close cooperation with parents and invite parents and siblings to various events throughout the year, such as summer parties, potlucks on UN day, Lucia celebrations, exhibitions, and other festivities.
Engelska förskolan has five locations in Stockholm - Norra Djurgårdsstaden, Vasastan, Norrmalm, Södermalm and Skarpnäck. During holidays and breaks, we collaborate with our preschools on Frejgatan/Döbelnsgatan.
The English French preschool is a part of Engelska Skolor och Förskolor i Sverige and Atvexa.
